Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

At JDRF, we're leading the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D) by funding research, advocating for policies that accelerate access to new therapies, and providing a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by T1D. JDRF works every day to change the reality of this disease for millions of people—and to prevent anyone else from ever knowing it—by funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market and connecting and engaging the T1D community.

Founded by parents determined to find a cure for their children with T1D, JDRF expanded through grassroots fundraising and advocacy efforts to become a powerhouse in the scientific community with dozens of U.S. locations and five international affiliates. We’ve funded more than $2 billion in research to date and made significant progress in understanding and fighting the disease. We must keep up the pace of funding so progress doesn’t slow or stop entirely.

Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs & Camp Hodia

Idaho Diabetes Youth Programs (IDYP), dba Camp Hodia, provides educational camps and programs for youth with type 1 diabetes regardless of their ability to pay. We are a community that empowers our participants to lead full and productive lives. Our programs foster self-reliance, education, and inspiration through healthy self-management of type 1 diabetes.

We couldn’t run our camps and programs without our amazing volunteers. IDYP is maintained and operated by its large, nearly all volunteer staff including physicians, registered nurses, registered dietitians, counselors, and program staff. The majority of our staff either have diabetes or work directly with people who have diabetes.

We have created a place where kids who feel different get to feel normal. A place where kids who feel limited or held back get the chance to do things they never thought possible; from skiing or snowboarding to whitewater rafting and horseback riding to canoeing and hiking, you name it, we teach them that they can do anything. At Hodia, we give our campers more than just a fun experience away from home. We give them hope, education, friendship, community, and independence.
